Eiffel Art Studios
The former locomotive repair shop, known as the Eiffel Hall, was built between 1884-86 on the site of the former MÁV railway workshop, the Northern Rolling Stock Repair Shop, designed by János Feketeházy. The industrial monument, which closed in 2010, will become the new logistics and arts centre of the Hungarian State Opera House in 2020. The 22,000 m2 complex, consisting of a five-bay hall, two side buildings and a medium-sized standard railway station, will house the Opera’s rehearsal, costume and set production, storage and visitor centre. The Bánffy Miklós Hall, which seats almost 500 people, is also the Opera’s new chamber theatre, where the Song Theatre’s contemporary, modern opera and ballet repertoire will be performed.

ADVENT WALK
“We invite you to join us for an intimate Advent walk in Szentendre, during which my tour guide colleague and I will tell you about the tradition of setting up nativity scenes, the history of the four public nativity scenes in our town, and the local customs associated with the holiday season. All this will be spiced up with interesting facts about astronomy, literary and biblical quotations, and folk songs.
The walk will end at the nativity scene in Fő Square, where members of our club, RC Szentendre, will be waiting for us at our charity wine stand with mulled wine and traditional Szentendre holiday pastries.
In addition, of course, there will be delicacies to welcome guests upon arrival, and we will start our journey with a special Advent tea and a taste of this year’s Christmas cookies.
The walk will take about 1 hour, and after the joint program, everyone will have the opportunity to explore the old town and its restaurants on their own.”
Dorottya Hidegkuti
The price of the walk is 5.000 HUF/person.
